The Silk Road represents one of the earliest and most influential examples of globalization, connecting Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East through an extensive network of land and maritime trade routes. While its significance is often associated with the exchange of silk, spices, and precious goods, its broader contribution lies in facilitating the movement of ideas, cultures, religions, technologies, and medical knowledge. This article examines the Silk Road's role in shaping early globalization by analyzing its economic, cultural, and scientific dimensions. It highlights how merchants, scholars, physicians, and travelers contributed to the diffusion of medical practices, pharmaceutical knowledge, and healthcare innovations across civilizations. The study also discusses the Silk Road's legacy in contemporary globalization, emphasizing its influence on international trade, intercultural dialogue, global health cooperation, and knowledge-sharing networks.
