THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF GLOBAL WARMING: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

This study investigates the economic implications of global warming, particularly focusing on its challenges and potential for fostering sustainable development. It evaluates sector-specific vulnerabilities and explores adaptive opportunities using primary data collected through structured surveys in Jammu and Kashmir. Statistical analysis, including SPSS-based tests, substantiates the perceived impacts across agriculture, infrastructure, public health, migration, energy, and finance sectors. The results highlight a dual narrative: economic losses due to climate volatility and opportunities in renewable energy, green finance, and climate-resilient agriculture. The paper concludes with policy recommendations tailored for developing economies.
